Job Description

The goal of this position is to deepen the the community reach of Fayette County Animal Rescue, raise additional funds to further our mission, enhance volunteer opportunities and assist in the day to day operation of our animal shelter including coordinating our Community Spay / Neuter Program.

It is important to note that this position will be primarily focused on people, not caring for the animals at our shelter. The primary role of this position will be the day to day running of our shelter and programs, along with events and fundraising. Other tasks include coordinating volunteers, meeting with members of our community, supervising workers at our shelter, etc. This position will handle a myriad of varied activities and the successful candidate should be well organized, flexible and able to handle multiple tasks at one time under limited supervision.

Specific Duties

  • Community Spay/Neuter Program coordination

  • Fundraising - bake sales, garage sales, adoption events, 5K run, gala, etc.

  • Event Planning - large and small

  • Community Outreach

  • Volunteer management

  • Provide quality customer service while promoting FCARs mission, services, programs and events to the  public including but not limited to adopters, donors, potential adopters, volunteers, and supporters 

  • Cultivate positive relationships with customers, volunteers and co-workers through professional, courteous and 
    educational interactions

  • Answer phone calls; respond to inquiries and messages in a timely manner

  • General office duties

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3-5 years business experience.

  • Self starter.

  • Works under limited supervision.

  • Commitment to mission, values, goals and success of FCAR

  • Highly motivated, polite and professional 

  • Team player, able to work in fast paced environment, multi-task and prioritize duties 

  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills

  • Compassion for animals 

  • Basic computer skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to handle animals safely and effectively 

  • Ability to provide quality customer service 

  • Ability to work independently, practice independent sound judgment and take appropriate actions

 

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in a shelter, office and outdoor environment 

  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling required while performing job function 

  • Typical shift requires long periods of standing and walking 

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds 

  • Work is subject to frequent interruption 

  • Exposure to cleaning agents and allergens 

  • Saturdays are required

  • Subject to work outside in a variety of weather conditions 

  • Subject to loud/frequent noise 

  • Valid drivers license and proof of insurance required

  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen

 

Pay / Hours

$15/hour

25-35 hours/week; we have a need and work for someone up to 8 hours a day. Depending on the candidate we can be flexible on hours and days to be worked. Saturdays however are a Must. 
Preferred Hours:  We are flexible with hours between 8am-6pm; Monday - Saturday (Specific hours/days may be flexible for successful candidate)
